Supporting the Calculus Project

In July of 2021, the Somerville Education Foundation funded a lunch for Calculus Project students when they took a field trip to Boda Borg during this summer’s session. The Boda Borg field trip gave students the opportunity to develop critical thinking and teamwork skills as they completed physical and mental challenges together. Afterwards they enjoyed a burrito lunch at which they were able to build friendships and community. To learn more about Somerville’s Calculus Project, please click here.

April 2021 - Farrington Nature Programming

Thanks to SEF funding, Farrington Nature Linc delivered programming during April vacation weeks 2021 to children from the Y@PHA and Mystic Learning Center (MLC). The Farrington Nature Linc’s mission is to connect youth who have limited access to nature. With the help of the SEF, the Farrington Nature Linc provided three days of 1-1.5 hour programs in outdoor, green spaces located near partner sites in Somerville (e.g. Lincoln Park, MLC's yard area, Blessing of the Bay riverside pathway) as well as one 4.5 hour field trip to FNL's site in Lincoln, MA.
