Somerville Education Foundation is seeking new board members.
The Somerville Education Foundation (SEF) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that works to promote learning opportunities for all Somerville residents. We are currently looking for volunteers to fill several positions on our diverse board to help direct our efforts, including President. We are seeking engaged and enthusiastic individuals who can contribute time, expertise, creativity, and positive energy to our cause.
Our current efforts focus on supporting year-round learning, applied learning, innovative instruction and working to prioritize community resources to support the students so that they are ready to learn. Ongoing and past programs include raising funds for quality summer and after-school programs, holding community STEAM events and funding child-care programs during COVID. We also work directly with the Somerville Public Schools to pursue grants and fund new initiatives.
We are seeking members with a background or expertise in organizational development, fundraising, law or direct connection to a part of Somerville’s diverse community, but anyone with a passion for public education is welcome to apply, regardless of prior experience.
Please send a cover letter with an overview why you wish to join the Board of SEF, a summary of relevant experience and a copy of your resume.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
