Center for arts at the armory

The summer of 2019 saw Arts at the Armory open a fantastic summer program for young people in Somerville, Arts Discovery Week. Arts Discovery Week, designed for children aged 5 – 10, ran for four weeks and consisted of both morning and afternoon sessions, allowing for children to participate in whichever best fit their schedule. These sessions gave the children an opportunity to express themselves however they saw fit, with classes ranging from molding clay to creating art representing the beauty of the ocean.  

​This amazing program gave children the opportunity to express themselves artistically outside of a school-sponsored setting. Unfortunately, not every family is able to afford a week-long program. Due to the incredible generosity of our donors, children who otherwise would not have been able to experience these great programs were given an opportunity to expand their creativity.
